Our new paper, We Politely Insist: Your LLM Must Learn the Persian Art of Taarof, explores how AI can grasp the social logic behind Persian politeness rituals. The project, which drew remarkable attention online and in the press, introduces TaarofBench, a benchmark for culturally-aware AI that tests whether models can interpret context, hierarchy, and intent beyond literal meaning.
